Board Certified
What does Board Certified mean?
- To become board certified an attorney must have been licensed
for at least five years, devoted a percentage of practice to his/her
specialty area, been
evaluated by fellow lawyers and judges and passed a day-long
written examination.
- Initial certification is valid for five years. To remain board
certified, an attorney must apply for recertification every five years
and meet practice, peer
reviews and continuing legal education requirements for their
specialty.
- Attorneys that are board certified demonstrate experience and
dedication. Board Certification ensures that the certified attorney
has maintained these high levels of experience and dedication
through ongoing education in their practice area.
